Florida’s Republican Attorney General Ashley Moody once served on the board of an organization that sent robocalls asking people to march on the Capitol building last week. Moody is now among many elected officials receiving backlash for supporting rhetoric and rallies that culminated in last week’s domestic terror attack in Washington.

The call went out the night before. It gave the time and the location. It warned of a stolen election and asked so-called patriots to fight:
For more than a year, the official state website for Florida Attorney General Ashley Moody said the Republican is “recognized as a national leader” among her peers. Until a few days ago, the website supported this claim by mentioning Moody’s appointment to the board of directors for a conservative organization now facing blow back for its role in the deadly attack on the U.S. Capitol last .

Illinois Supreme Court issued the following announcement on Dec. 21.
Marcia M. Meis, Director of the Administrative Office of the Illinois Courts, announced that the Thirteenth Judicial Circuit judges voted to select Scott M. Belt as an associate judge of the Thirteenth Judicial Circuit.
Mr. Belt received his undergraduate degree in 1986 from Southern Illinois University in Carbondale, Illinois, and his Juris Doctor in 1990 from Western Michigan University Cooley Law School in Lansing, Michigan. Mr. Belt is currently affiliated with Belt, Dearth and Associates in Morris, Illinois.

A vacancy in office exists for the position of at large circuit judge in the Thirteenth Judicial Circuit following the retirement of Judge Eugene P. Daugherity.
The vacancy shall be filled by Supreme Court appointment pursuant to the Constitution of the State of Illinois.
