Mamma Mia! You gotta feel for Neptune Theatre. Days after it announced its tepid return to live shows, the government called for another lockdown (making those shows cancelled, of course). The new premier pretty quickly called JK on the whole thing–pulling the plug on a proposed monthlong shutdown one week in–but that doesn’t give the average live venue enough time to remount a cancelled show (or even recover from the whiplash, really). But, if you’re looking for other ways to support the biggest professional theatre company in Atlantic Canada (and really, you should be if you want to keep this anchor in our local theatre scene alive), take a look through its current fundraising auction. The online auction, hosted until March 16, is full of Neptune costumes, props and memorabilia–the total definition of hidden gems that’ll bring a bit of Halifax into your home decor.

Zisters in Elm Grove are planning a new Mexican-inspired concept in Wauwatosa.
Hermanas is slated for an early May opening at the former Thirsty Duck restaurant at 11320 W. Bluemound Road.

Thirsty Duck in Wauwatosa closed last summer, the Zierath sisters quickly jumped on the opportunity to develop another concept, following the success of
“When my sister and I opened Zisters (in June 2018), we had high hopes,” Betsi Zierath said in an email to BizTimes. “Our goal was to open a cute brunch spot where we would enjoy going and bringing our friends to. Since then, we have found ourselves operating what we have been told is becoming a cornerstone in the community.”

WAUWATOSA, WI The Wauwatosa Plan Commission will discuss a proposal for a Mexican Restaurant during the March 8 meeting.
Gabbi and Betsi Zierath, the sisters behind Elm Grove s popular restaurant Zisters, are proposing a modern and trendy Mexican restaurant called Hermanas to replace Thirsty Duck, 11320 W. Bluemound Rd.
The restaurant will offer gourmet food and drinks.

Hermanas is inspired by Tulum, Mexico. A lazy modern beach town with a clean blank interior with random pops of color. Clean wood floors, light nude walls, black accent concrete countertops will contrast the two neon signs that say, blame it on the Tequila and Taco bout a good time, the documents said.
