Jonathan Toews Speaks: Aiming for Opening Night, Medical Info, and Allegations of Sexual Abuse

Yesterday was a wild one for the Chicago Blackhawks news cycle. Of course, there is no escaping the allegations and lawsuits against the team and former video coach Brad Aldrich. There shouldn’t be. But damned if it wasn’t close yesterday with the trade rumors surrounding Duncan Keith and the reappearance of Jonathan Toews after nearly a year of silence from him. With the video posted to Toews’ Twitter account, he spoke about why he was away from the team for the entire 2020-21 season and the mysterious medical condition that kept him off the ice for months. “They’re calling it Chronic Immune Response Syndrome,” Toews says in the two-minute video. Toews said he is excited to get back on the ice, playing with the team, and is ready to get back in front of the united Center fans.

A Good Number of Blackhawks Got the COVID Vaccine Today (But Not All)

The Chicago Blackhawks took part in a practice at Fifth Third Bank Ice Arena in Chicago today before heading to Detroit to take on the Red Wings for their final two-game series of the season tomorrow. Prior to practice, however, the Blackhawks were offered the chance to get a COVID-19 Vaccine shot. And several of them took it. Blackhawks players had the option of getting the vaccine today. pic.twitter.com/ELqsT09jrJ After practice, Blackhawks head coach Jeremy Colliton said “A good number” of players took the shot, but obviously couldn’t get into specifics. Colliton on how many Blackhawks players opted to get the vaccine today: I think it s a good number that took it. I got it, so obviously I m in favor of it. Every single person that gets vaccinated is a step closer to getting back to normal both as a team and in public life.
