color, particularly in an age of anger, clarlsharles. look i don t think jeb is good at anger. he can pretend but it is pretty transparent that it s not. remember a couple of weeks ago he said he rooesentenceresents having to demonize others. who says you have to demonize others? he obviously doesn t like the game he s in, the game of presidential politics. i think his escape is to simply say i m different. i m not going to hurl insults and i m going to tell you what i m going to do. if he can do it in an engaging convincing way, this is a guy of some substance. i think his job is to halt the damage. he s got to stop damage and he s got the money to hang in. he s like at 4% and 5% in some polls now. if you slip any further he s done. any of the second-tier candidates it s like four and
at the are saying he is on the canvas. the only people he can get to listen to him are a forced assembly of kids who can t even legally vote. what do you think? i wish we had a shot of the children to see their expression when he said spiraling depression. they don t though what a border is. they were probably like who is this guy and when can we go to recess? this goes to show you as all candidates should know, know your audience. that s probably the next time. it is not a therapy session. i do think jeb was in the throws of depression and i m sure his father said i m disappointed in you, look at these polls. i m disappointed that um from p and carson that trump and carson are beating you. isn t that the message f kids now? kids don t have that experience with their parents, right? i want my kids to be more scared of me, but they are not.
together democrats and republicans, if you mixed it up, if you opened it up and let everybody vote in the primaries, right now independents are shut out in many states. you d have a whole different political conversation taking place in the country. really long debates! although you d have a different threshold for getting into them. other person emerging as a potential establishment striking back candidate is marco rubio. he was on face the nation this morning. bush campaign called you the repuican obama. is that an insult or a compliment? i don t think they mean it as a compliment and i certainly wouldn t take it as that. campaigns are going to say whatever they think gives them an advantage. someone has convinced jeb attacking me is going to help his campaign. it won t change the way we run our campaign. the republican obama, then the response of people are. convincing bush of something, there s a lot of analytic discourse there. that s a crazy back and forth and watching
voters. so he does to me come off as peevish in moments but i m not sure it is about donors. it does however feel like the establishment shifted under him and i think that for me is part of what s interesting to watch here was. of course. i think so, too. think jeb s play right now, he needs to tread water. he s trying to tread water. just keep it up. we can get a debate stage with more than a dozen candidates on it. . you know when we get to the convention there a he still not going to be 12 candidates in there. only so many of them will be funded. marco rubio seems to be building momentum. ted cruz certainly will have the backing. we keep a tracker of who is the front-runner of this point. yes! we took a look at it, too. who was leading at this time in our various gop campaigns. so today, in 2012 herman cain was leading the republican presidential primary. in 2000le rudy giuliani was up.
obviously taking on donald trump, it could boomerang. i don t think jeb has a choice at this point. are you surprised that the non-traditional candidate of a donald trump is doing so well, especially with the type of statements that would take a regular politician down in three seconds? actually, three years ago on a podcast i predicted that donald trump or somebody like donald trump could well be our nominee in 2016 for these reasons. one is we have combined politics and policy and entertainment into one thing. he s very good at that. number two, there s a constituency within the conservative movement for an outside person like him, but you know, it only works for awhile if you have got a dispersed field with ten candidates. 30% is a winner in a ten person field, not necessarily a winner when the field gets down to two or three. i do think the republican establishment and conservative groups now are going to have to come to terms with the idea that donald trump could be, i m not
