compelling argument on paper than it is in practice so far. it does raise the question of not what s wrong with marco but what is it that s kept the vote from coalescing around anybody? who cares, people are done with the party. who cares. who cares that marco rubio is performing well? this sums up what we were talk about the last hour. i don t think carson is going to win. we re going to say why are we so obsessed with finding that one candida candidate. 50% of them were serving people
wants and ted cruz knows he may be able to get, not based on what he says about donald trump, not based on attacking trump or his policies, but just not being trump and not necessarily being the guy who s leading on some of these issues out there and in some cases perhaps being outlandish or provocative. ted cruz feels like he s the more pal atable alternative. if he attacks trump, trump supporters may be turned off by that. i think it s tactical, smart thinking by ted cruz. i don t think carson will get the momentum he had back. that s unlikely. the wild card for this is rubio. if he decides it will get fiery between the two top. that s an exchange i d be looking for in the debates this week. i think buck is right. we have a situation where dr. ben carson is dropping and mr. trump has actually broken the creeling that no one said he could break. it doesn t make sense for senator cruz to go after trump
donald trump is not only refusing to back down on his comments about carson s faith, he added to the controversy when he went out the very next day and made this promise. you know, a lot of people think i m sort of a tough guy. i actually think i m a really nice person but some say i m tough. i m going unify. i get along with ebb. ly be a great unifier for our country. brit hume is our fox channel senior political analyst. he joins me now. brit, it wasn t that long ago that carson hit trump on his fake and this is what he said and then he apologized. here s what he said. carson hit me on my faith. he was nice enough to apologize. that was nice. most people won t apologize. he has. i respect that.
says the man is low energy, when you do brain surgery for 15 hours, you know, when you do normal surgery, if you cut a blood vessel, you can patch it. you cut nerves in the brain, there s no patching. imagine being under that kind of pressure for 15 hours. i think that s not low energy. that s concentration and inner strength. but anyway, that s an aside. i couldn t help it. i had do it as a doctor. but carson will be under pressure to show that he has a more elaborate idea than tithing, which he raised in one of the other debates as a model for taxation, and he s going to have to elaborate on that. rubio is going to be under pressure. he s running third, i think, in the rcp average. so he s got to show his strength and he might have to parry trump. but the other will be carly fiorina. her rise was fueled by two
president. mm-hmm. and he says, of course, now that dr. carson is number one in that poll, he s going get greater scrutiny and this sets the stakes for tomorrow night rather well. who do you see as being under the most pressure going into this next debate, this third debate tomorrow night with cnbc? well, i mean it s always trump because he s the most improbable. he s been up there. the question is going to be how does he handle the fact that he s not out there all alone trumpeting his poll numbers. how does he handle the challenge from carson. and we ve already seen that he s a little bit thin skinned. well, more than that, the fact that in his speeches a few days ago, he raised the idea the question of kwcarson s religion when he said, look, i m a presbyterian down the middle, whatever that means. i don t know about seventh day adventists. that s what carson is.
