overstated. it s not nothing. i do think bannon and breitbart have given aen infrastructure to something that s aporphus and formless before that. and steve bannon can go around the country and say to proceed specktive candidates, not only is there a media outlet that will give you attention and fuel your campaign, but he s also got money in the form of mega donors, that does compel people to launch campaigns and that can be a problem for the republican establishment in 2018. in a lot of ways, bannon is influential, has the mega phone and now has the potentially the funding as well to help these candidates. unlike in alabama when there was an open seat, running against incumbents in the senate republican primaries is much more challenging because they those republican incumbents themselves are better funded, typically better organized, they will have money from the outside.
inside, steve bannon. it remains to be seen. the city always wins. we say that in washington. washington will win. so let s give round one to the city. bannon will go to breitbart. i don t think bannon and, you know, jeremy can provide insight on this as well, i don t think he has a vendetta against trump. i think he has a vendetta against the establishment, who s now ensconced in the white house. is jevanka, faz they re this hollywood couple, jared and ivanka trump, are they part of that? they are on trump s enemies list bannon. you guys are like game of thrones fans. he crosses off the list every time he takes one out. how many he takes out remains to be seen. his fire will be trainedspker r leader mcconnell. does it change anything for the president, christine? the thing about bannon is
america first is happening and changing every aspect of the republican and democratic party. and i don t think that things like charlottesville are going to change that trajectory. and i don t think bannon leaving is going to change that because that is who trump is, kushner, cohen, nobody is is going to change that. the message that the president will not change is the president s message and the president is alone this week where he said many fine people march alongside the nazis. and maggie, let me ask you about the administrative qualities of the white house, do you think there is a sense it will operate more smoothly? i think general kelly is trying to put some structure in place and processes in place. those still appear to be ongoing, from what i have heard and i think that he has no tolerance for people who he considers to be freelancers, and i think he considered steve bannon to be a freelancer.
bannon, most people don t know what they really did. it is going to be a turn the page on this. what we have all said over and over, i think you goo uys are getting it now. trump have changed the republican party and the realignment of something sounds like america s first is happening. it is changing every aspect of the republican party. i don t think things like charlottesville are going to change that trajectory. i don t think bannon s leaving is going to change that. that s who trump is. i think it is interesting both the republican and the democrats are pushing to say a message for the president will not change. it was the president s message and the president alone. maggie, we ll ask you one last question here of the business of the white house. the administrative qualities inside the white house. do you think any sense that it will operate more smoothly.
mcmaster inside the white house. i think now that bannon is on the outside at breitbart news this is going to become a public debate. and bannon is going to try to galvanize the populist right wing in a more public way against some of the president s policies, or against the policies of some of the president s advisers that bannon doesn t agree with. [ inaudible ] what bannon suggested in the weekly standard interview, that the president will likely move toward the center, move away from the president, presidency that he said that the board has voted for. and just go for a win where he can get one. or the president will hold to those promises, that were so popular with the base that elected him. well i don t think bannon knows. what i think he was saying in that interview, i know this is bannon s view, was that he thinks that trump was elected because he espoused on the campaign trail a certain set of
