Maddie Welcomes Kari With a Few Fun 107 Tips
Dear Kari,
For the past year, I have been the new kid on the block. The “newbie. The freshman among seniors. I happily pass that torch to you now, as you officially begin at Fun107 today.
Have no fear about being the new kid. This group is filled with the nicest people I have ever worked with. But as a friend, I must warn you, there are certain rules to abide by if you want to survive here, and now that I can revoke the title of “newest on-air member” from my name, I would like to pass it on to you and share my knowledge on the most important things to understand when working for Fun 107.
It s been a couple of days since the news broke of the passing of Antone Fortes. Most people who live in New Bedford and even the surrounding towns knew him as Tonka Toi, and he was an absolute legend in the Cape Verdean community.
Sadly, Toi was fighting COVID-19 and unfortunately lost the fight.
We are only five or so weeks into 2021 and there s already been great sadness within the New Bedford community alone. Tonka Toi was more than just a gymnastics and acrobatics teacher; he was a father, a friend and an absolute visionary when it came to the mental health and well being of our community s children.
