A surge in the number of travellers on the East-West leg of Highway 2000 for December has resulted in an improved fourth quarter for TransJamaican Highway (TJH).
Earlier measures implemented to stem the spread of the coronavirus (COVID-19) resulted in a drop in traffic by 34.5 per cent over one year in the second quarter of 2020.
However, Thierry Parizot, Managing Director of TransJamaican Highway, reported that a traffic peak was reached during the Christmas holidays with 90,000 transactions on December 24, 2020.
For the full year 2020, a total of 20.6 million toll transactions were recorded (56,268 per day), down 14.8 per cent compared to 2019 (24.2 million).
