The leaders of the Netherlands' two far-right parties, Geert Wilders (PVV) and Thierry Baudet (FvD), spent some time arguing about the 9/11 tragedy in the United States and the moon landing on Wednesday. They did so during the general budget debate, one of the most critical debates in the Netherlands’ parliamentary year, during which the political parties argue over what changes to make to next year’s national budget.
The high turnover of politicians in The Hague has not yet improved confidence in national politics. Only 25 percent of Dutch voters trust national politicians, about the same as before the appointment of many new party leaders, EenVandaag found in its annual Budget Day survey among 29,000 members of its opinion panel.
Several parliamentarians who reported their additional income to the Tax Authority after the deadline are having their salary cut, BNR reports. It concerns at least Thierry Baudet (FvD), Gidi Markuszower (PVV), and Roelf Bisschop (SGP). Baudet must repay around 40,000 euros of his salary.
