desantis. he said it before. it s a line he uses out there, we re going to slit the throats of members of the deep state, saying it figuratively we know, but, obviously, that kind of stuff, that culture, that language of violence can lead to real violence, which is what we re talking about, why donald trump was in a courtroom yesterday. yeah, we saw it happen. trump, of course, has used violent rhetoric since his 2016 campaign, talking about second amendment people and second amendment solutions when invoking hillary clinton at times. he s endorsed act of violence at his rallies. we know he stirred up the crowd on january 6th with the tweet about it being wild. we know about his callout to the proud boys, stand back and stand by. this is something that has real-life consequences. it wouldn t just be january 6th. we have known that, as we discussed on many show, there are municipalities across this country having a hard time finding election volunteers,
delusion, but a movement. there is a reason no one else in the primary is coming close. he has a movement, and they have social media accounts. we are going to need, those of us who don t believe in authoritarianism in america, to build a bigger, better movement. that should be the focus. fair enough. anand, thank you very much. westchester county d.a. mimi roca, thank you. katie phang, thank you, as well. katie phang show saturdays and sundays at 8:00 a.m. eastern here on msnbc. still ahead on morning joe, house speaker kevin mccarthy is asked about donald trump s arraignment. instead, turns the conversation to hillary clinton. we ll show you his new, false comparison between the 2020 and the 2016 elections and speak with doris kearns goodwin for some much-needed historical perspective. plus, here s a live look at stock futures ahead of the july jobs report.
d.c. you need to have a change of venue. you need a new judge. we need to win in 2024 to stop this crazy crap. i mean, it is so disgusting. so embarrassing. lindsey knows better. he obviously knows better. but he is slandering the judge. he is attacking the jury system. it is very interesting, the judge, who is actually going to be overseeing the case, was unanimously confirmed by the senate in 2013 by a vote of 95-0. unanimous. she was unanimously confirm confirmed by the senate. again, just like the republicans used to defend the fbi, they were the ones defending the fbi against attacks from progressives. the second the fbi actually investigated donald trump, well, suddenly, they hate the fbi. suddenly, they hate the military. they hate military leaders.
repeatedly, admonished and warned donald trump that he cannot have improper contact with witnesses mirrors, if you guys will recall, a similar bond condition that was imposed in trump s mar-a-lago case. in that case, trump and the other co-defendants are not allowed to have contact with any witnesses and talk about communications, about the facts of the case, unless it is through counsel. they re trying to make sure each of these defendants stays in a particular lane, but in regards to timing, because once you kind of give enough rope to donald trump, he ll hang himself in that regard in terms of things he says to incriminate himself. the tough thing i want people to understand is, i wrote a piece that was not really popularly received because it s definitely not something people want to hear, but the judicial process, it takes time. a criminal defendant like donald trump, he is going to play out the litigation clock in this case to the best of his ability. he has a trial coming up. le
new title has a nice ring to it. we ll talk to you again on morning joe. thanks to all of you for getting up way too early with us on this friday morning and all week long. morning joe starts right now. ultimately, what president trump said is, let s go with option d. let s just halt. let s just pause the voting and allow the state legislatures to take one last look and make a determination as to whether or not the elections were handled fairly. that s constitutional law. that s not an issue of criminal activity. that s actually an admission. you can say something is not criminal, but that doesn t make it true. wow. that s donald trump s attorney in the 2020 election case, seeming to admit that the former president did exactly what he is accused of doing. all he wanted to do is impede, like, the counting of electoral votes. take away people s rights.
