the civilian contribution corps did and making enough money to survive but built things that still last. i think is thethere s a range o activities if you put people in teams, i d like to see them work on teams about a year and something i think they will feel good about afterwards. a great concept certainly and we wish you the best about it. i want to ask you about some of the other big stories that are taking place rice now, specifically, the background check vote. the last time you were on this show, you supported even an assault weapons ban. what do you make of what is happening in washington and how this didn t go through? i m disappointed. i believe that there is a very difficult issue in front of us and that is how are we going to deal with everything about weapons. we have such an incredible number of americans harmed each year by weapons that i think not having an unemotional informed discussion is unfortunate. and so i think that things like
much. in the meantime let s go back to where there are serious new questions being raids by president obama d being raise raised being raised that if the debt ceiling is not raise the seniors may not get their social security checks august 3. this is the president s interview with cbs where he talked about this. be can you tell the folks at home no matter what happens social security checks will go south august 3. this is not just a matter of social security checks. these are veterans checks, folks on disability and their checks. thethere are about 70 million checks that go out. reporter: can you guarantee as president that those checks will go out on august 3. i cannot guarantee those checks go out on august 3 if we
good idea to be able to combat that, which he can now do. but in this new poll, all the numbers are not necessarily all that great for the president, are they? thethere s the good news d news. bad news is the popularity number is only up to 52%. also again, wolf, it s the economy, as it always is. disapproval of barack obama s handling of the economy, 58%, that may be an all time high. economy on wrong track, 50%. what that means, wolf, these independent voters barack obama has to get, he really hasn t gotten them on the issues that hit close to home. they still don t feel and economic recovery. they re worried about those gasoline prices. so he has to prove himself on the domestic policy stage. ironically, he s done it on the foreign policy arena, but not so much at home. that s what presidential elections tend to be about,
