A young Town U21 side lost 5-1 to Millwall at the Den this afternoon, Jack Ainsley netting the Blues’ goal. For the home team, Dany N Guessan netted a hat-trick and Conor Wilkinson two.
Boss Paul Jewell will be back at the scene of his first game in charge of the Blues on Saturday when his team take on Millwall at the Den. The Town manager says his side has made progress in some areas in the nine months since then, but not enough in others.
New Brighton and Hove Albion boss Micky Adams says his club could still make a move for Matt Richards, who spent much of last season on loan at the Withdean Stadium. Former Albion manager Dean Wilkins was known to want to sign Richards permanently, but Adams taking over threw the possible move into doubt.
Midfielders Luke Hyam and Lee Martin are both expected to miss Saturday’s home game against Millwall having picked up niggles in training. Better news for Blues boss Paul Jewell, who is considering including 16-year-old Byron Lawrence as a sub, is that Richard Wright doesn’t require an operation on his knee problem, while Jimmy Bullard was back in training this morning.
