eventually, putin s going to start using things like thermo baric bombs and have to take real risks. that s frightening too, what he might do, to get ahead here. i know you don t believe sanctions will work. we ve heard about the s.w.i.f.t. payment moves. what would then work to stop putin? i think the only thing is to, frankly, stack up the body bags and send them back to the kremlin so that putin can see what s there and so that, unfortunately, those deaths would work to bring the russian public out into the streets and sustain them in the streets. in the end, i think the center of gravity, the defeat mechanism for vladimir putin, is going to be his own people in the streets. the ukrainian military and the rest of the world can tie him up in ukraine. we can sanction him. we can hurt him economically. but none of that is going to be enough until the russian people decide they ve had enough.
it says there was a mass surrender by ukrainian troops. we could not immediately independently verify those claims. overnight there were massive explosions in a town about 20 kilometers southwest of kyiv. the town s mayor saying a military air field and a petroleum storage depot were hit. earlier in the day, cnn crews saw more convoys of russian military equipment heading into ukraine, including this particularly lethal weapon that fires what are called thermo baric warheads which cause powerful explosions and large, enormously destructive pressure waves. russia used the weapon during its war in chechnya. ukrainian president zelenskyy is calling for people around the world to join the fight against russia saying, quote, anyone who wants to join the defense of ukraine, europe, and the world can come and fight side by side with the ukrainians against the russian war criminals. they were his words. a short time ago i choke with
