“Water. The key word is water here,” said Schooner Camp counselor Theresa Peters.
With temperatures approaching 90 degrees before noon time, counselors were teaching water safety and at the same time, making sure they had enough water.
“It’s going to be a hot one the next few days so we’re just going to make sure everybody’s hydrated and gaining experience in the water in a beautiful way,” said Schooner Camp Director Nicki Saccoccia.

At Lighthouse Point, one of nine city camps began operation Monday. But before a single activity took place, counselors were briefed.
“We kind of gave everyone a little bit of a heads up this morning,” said Camp Director Maris Misbach. “Just letting them know, always have your water with you and have water breaks a lot.”

David Cronenberg has set his first directorial feature since 2014, “Crimes of the Future,” with a cast that includes Viggo Mortensen, Léa Seydoux and Kristen Stewart.
“Crimes of the Future” comes from Neon and Serendipity Point Films, with Neon set to release the sci-fi movie in the U.S. Production aims to kick off this August in Athens, Greece.

Sommerville expected about 170 students to return to in-person learning at Tudor Elementary, she said. “We’ve been working so hard this whole year, making sure that our kids had what they need and doing online learning but it’s just it’s not enough,” Sommerville said. “If I could have brought all of them back, I would have.” Tudor, a pre-K through sixth grade neighborhood school, also houses a Montessori program. Students in kindergarten through fifth grade in the Montessori program, and pre-K through third grade in the neighborhood school program, returned to in-person class on Wednesday. Sommerville said the months away from classrooms were hard on students, especially those who are more vulnerable. The students come from a wide range of socioeconomic backgrounds, she said, and the pandemic and school closures have had tremendous impacts on some. Some families have had to quit jobs to take care of children. Others are facing crises like eviction, she said.
