SHOPPERS returned to Weymouth s high street yesterday as non-essential shops, salons and hairdressers reopened in the latest phase of the roadmap to exit lockdown. Pubs, bars, cafés and restaurants with outdoor space also welcomed back customers as the Covid-19 restrictions eased further. Socially distanced queues were forming outside many of the big retailers in Weymouth, including Game, TK Maxx and M&S. However the biggest queues in the town centre were seen outside hairdressers and barbers as people desperate to have a professional haircut were finally able to return to get a snip. Stanley Smith, 82, said he was happy to see shops opening again in the town centre and was hoping to get a haircut at The Modern Barbers on St Mary Street - but decided against it after seeing how long the queue was - even before 9am.
