way to go. because they appear to be so great, it does raise the possibility that they don t reach an agreement. the president said as much there, there s no deal until you have a final deal. there s a long distance to be bridged. clearly what the ayatollah just said today is going to undermine the administration s stance going into the senate foreign relations hearings next week. absolutely. and a potential vote in the united states senate. it s going to only build opposition to what the administration wants. that s a serious issue right now. no question. jim sciutto reporting for us. thank you. the ayatollah didn t stop with criticizing the nuclear negotiations. he also took direct aim at saudi arabia for the air strikes its been launching in yemen against the houthi rebels aligned with iran. up next we ll go live to saudi arabia for more on how iran is impacting that battle.
congressional republicans. the timing certainly doesn t look like a coincidence here. the congressional republicans, boehner today, senator mitch mcconnell earlier this week right during the nuclear deal deadlines coming down to the wire on these negotiations. and that s when republicans are here showing support for netanyahu. he has been the most vocal critic of these negotiations and of this deal. he s been speaking out from the beginning. it was a month ago he was in congress. especially in these last few days very important political ceremonies here. the swearing-in of the knesset. netanyahu has used the timing of all this to speak out against the deal to speak out as what he sees as the problems with this deal. and that includes things like the advanced centrifuges, the advanced research underground facilities. netanyahu has lobbied against all of this. we heard him yesterday, the day before, and this will be one more opportunity. again, we expect these comments from boehner and n
is the team here john kerry and the administration making a mistake by going on and on into another day, potentially another day tomorrow if there isn t a deal, a good deal to be had here, should they just call it a day and go home? if it s clear there can t be a good deal, yes, they should call it a day and go home. i don t think we need to press on any particular date. the real date that makes all the difference is at the end of june. but if we put too much pressure on ourselves to get a deal within 12 hours or 24 hours, that works in iran s favor. i think in many ways, the pressure congress is putting on the administration to get something done now ahead of the deadline because we may enact additional sanctions in the interim plays into iran s hands. is a frankly, i would favor giving negotiators time to see if they can get a good deal. we ll know soon enough if they
expect to hear from house speaker john boehner. in this critical week as these deadlines have come down to the wire and now perhaps in a sort of overtime netanyahu has been the most vocal critic. and now in these critical hours getting very much support from congressional republicans. it s boehner here right now. it was senator mitch mcconnell earlier this week promising netanyahu that if there is a deal it would be house republicans and congressional republicans pushing for a required congressional approval of that deal. that could be a big roadblock to president obama as he pushes forward for a deal. mitch mcconnell also said if there isn t a deal then he agrees with prime minister netanyahu. that s what s needed are tougher sanctions, and he said that republicans would push for tougher sanctions. netanyahu very much knows where his strongest support comes from. it comes from house speaker boehner and the house republicans. and it comes from senate republicans. and he s using that. h
hoosiers and the rest of the country that indiana is open for business to everyone. the controversy here in indiana not dying down. the university of connecticut men s basketball coaching staff saying they re not coming to the final four and the ncaa meeting surrounding it. pat hayden the former college and pro quarterback, who s now the athletic director at usc, saying he s not coming to the football meetings around the final four at the ncaa because he s afraid this law would act against his son, who s gay. kristen? a lot of questions about the long-term economic impact there. john yang sarah dallof thank you so much. and still to come new revelations about what the german co-pilot at the controls of that doomed airplane had been treated for as he trained to fly. but first, back to switzerland. what will it take to sell any deal on iran s nuclear program to the skeptics on capitol hill? andrea mitchell will ask the top democrats on the house
