As the work it s been doing for more than a decade gains broader interest from industry, researchers and academia, the nonprofit Cleveland Cord Blood Center has taken steps in recent years to be ready to respond.
CCBC, one of only eight FDA-licensed cord blood centers in the United States, collects, processes, stores and distributes stem-cell-rich umbilical cord blood that is used for transplantation in patients with life-threatening disorders as well as for research by scientists around the country exploring cord blood s potential therapeutic applications.
