Its reservations system was suspended with no new bookings being accepted from February 11, 2021. Passengers have been advised to register claims for refunds. The troubled carrier that had been losing money for years, even before the COVID-19 pandemic, announced that it plans to enter voluntary liquidation.

Sisa Namandje threatens TransNamib if Air Namibia doesn t keep Challenge Air agreement

February 2021 - 18:29 Photo credits:  NAMPA Lawyer Sisa Namandje has written to the Air Namibia interim chief executive officer (CEO), Theo Mberirua to comply with and adhere to the court order which was handed down on 29 January. The national carrier and Challenge Air reached an out of court agreement where Air Namibia agreed to pay 9,9 million Euros (over N$177 million). In the letter, Namadje is also asking Mberirua to confirm if the liquidation is a ploy to avoid the agreement. Namandje, who represents Challenge Air, wants Air Namibia to comply with the court order before 18 February. The company also threatened to take execution and enforcement steps against TransNamib in the event of Air Namibia not complying to the agreement.

They are Escher Luanda, Heritha Muyoba, Willy Mertens and presidential pilot Alois Nyandoro. Last Friday, the board reached a last-minute settlement agreement with Belgian company Challenge Air, which applied to the High Court for the liquidation of Air Namibia.
