In spite of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and no physical event this year, over 1,300 scarves, hats, mitts and gloves were collected as part of the annual Penny M. Lilley Memorial Wooly Toss.
Normally held during a December Legionnaires Jr. B. hockey game, this year’s Wooly Toss place over a period of weeks as Sarnia-Lambton residents dropped off donations of woolly winter wear at homes as well as at local businesses.

Along with the donations of gloves, mittens, toques and scarves – which included three full garbage bags of knitted goods courtesy of Ellen Hurlock and her knitting group, 150 items collected by Smith Funeral Home and 50 pairs of mittens donated by Mrs. Gould – the Wooly Toss also collected a significant number of cash donations, which were used to provide food vouchers for distribution along with the win
