Martyn Waghorn and Joe Garner were on target as Town took their start to the season to five wins out of five by beating Brentford 2-0 at Portman Road. Home debutant Waghorn opened the scoring in the 35th minute with his one-time Rangers team-mate netting the second with a header six minutes after the restart to take the Blues to second in the Championship.
Thirty-seven games down, nine of the regular season to go, and it is Leyton Orient who find themselves sitting comfortably at the top of the table, five points clear of the chasing pack. The form of Richie Wellens’ side has largely been underpinned by their near-unflappable home performances: Orient have conceded only eight goals at Brisbane Road all season, contributing to them boasting the shrewdest defence in the league with 20 clean sheets and only 25 goals conceded in total.
