Former Dalmarnock community centre site A HOUSING association’s plan to build 45 homes in Dalmarnock has been boosted after councillors agree to sell a former community centre site. Glasgow City Council’s contracts and property committee has approved a proposal to sell the land for an expected £135,000. A council officer revealed there are also negotiations under way for a shop to be opened on nearby land. Thenue Housing Association is now set to take over the two-acre Lily Street/Connal Street site, which has been vacant since the community centre was knocked down in 2014, once a deal has been finalised.
Vulnerable women hit out at damp housing amid freezing winter TWO vulnerable women have been forced to endure damp and mouldy living conditions amid a drastic cold snap. Moira Yvonne Heafey, 50, and her carer and friend Mary McGoldrick, 48 have been living in the Dalmarnock Thenue Housing property since 2019. The 50-year-old woman suffers from long-term mobility issues but carer Mary has struggled to ensure their concerns were heard as she has non-verbal autism. “We are at our wits end.This is going to make matters worse for us both,” Mary said. “We have mould on bedroom and we have skin problems and weak immune systems.”
