FALL RIVER James Soule readily acknowledges that downtown business owners have long been frustrated with a lack of public parking.
“We sent a letter to the (Fall River) Redevelopment Authority two years ago about it. The city needs to be more proactive,” said Soule, who is president of the board of directors of the Preservation Society of Fall River.
But Soule, who founded the nonprofit in 2007, said that razing the former N.B. Borden School building at 45 Morgan St., as a means of creating more parking stock, should not have been allowed.
The circa 1868 elementary school that Lizzie Borden once attended is in the preparatory stage of demolition with windows, shingles and asbestos being removed.
