He s preachy and pretentious – but does Moby deserve to be the most hated man in pop?

Moby Talks Reprise, Natalie Portman, and His Trump-Russia Claims

To get inside, I’ve been furnished with a detailed map, accompanied by a series of guidelines for our interview. It’s early April, and although COVID-19 case numbers are relatively low in Los Angeles, the electronic-music artist is not taking any risks. Our talk will take place outdoors in his verdant backyard, seated 30 feet apart in chairs, and masked. Moby is also recording the interview with his own device; he says this is merely a security measure for my own benefit, in case something goes wrong with my recorder.

Moby regrets talking about Natalie Portman romance in memoir

1 d Share with: Moby regrets opening up about his relationship with Natalie Portman in his memoir, suggesting the drama surrounding his comments may have been the reason the book flopped. In his 2019 autobiography, Then It Fell Apart, the musician claimed he took Portman for a drink and kissed her while visiting her at Harvard during her studies there in the late 90s. After the book s release, Portman refuted Moby s tale that she was involved in a romantic relationship with him, saying she found it disturbing that he was using her to promote his book. Moby eventually apologised to Portman and others he has written about in Then It Fell Apart without telling them beforehand.

Moby on fame and regret: I was an out-of-control, utterly entitled drink and drug addict | Moby

Last modified on Mon 12 Apr 2021 09.32 EDT Moby is considering the question he is often asked in interviews: “Do I think I’ve been treated unfairly?” muses the 55-year-old musician, who, let’s face it, is hardly a stranger to terrible press. “Honestly, I don’t think I have been. I’m sure there are times when I’ve been portrayed badly and it was accurate. And even with some of the bad stuff I’ve been through, I don’t have any right to complain. When you look at the 8 billion people on the planet, a reasonably affluent caucasian cis-gendered male public figure musician is not necessarily the first person you think of as having valid criticisms about how they’re being treated.”
