Eastern Cape police have launched a 72-hour mobilisation plan to track down a group of men who abducted Gqeberha businessman Ashraf Laher in Korsten on Wednesday afternoon.
The Makhanda high court has ordered transport minister Fikile Mbalula and MEC Xolile Nqatha to step up and meet their legal obligations to provide for the safety and security of violence-besieged long-haul bus operators and their passengers. This could include taking “extraordinary measures” provided for in legislation which allows Nqatha to apply emergency steps to curb acts of violence in the taxi industry.
EASTERN Cape police are investigating a case of murder after a 60-year-old caretaker was shot and killed during a farm robbery in Thornhill on Thursday, 15 September.
