YOUNGSTOWN Zion Q. Gilmore, 21, has pleaded guilty to involuntary manslaughter and aggravated burglary in the shooting death of Theaplus Redmond Jr. last September.
Gilmore was indicted on murder, aggravated burglary, felonious assault, being a felon in possession of a firearm and intimidation, but pleaded guilty to the reduced charges Wednesday in Mahoning County Common Pleas Court. He will be sentenced by Judge R. Scott Krichbaum at 8:30 a.m. Monday.
Youngstown police said Redmond was shot just after midnight Sept. 15, 2020, at a home in the 200 block of Salt Springs Road. Redmond was pronounced dead at the scene.
Gilmore and Redmond are alleged to have committed an armed burglary together, and Redmond was shot in the process.
