their control. and they want to recognize the nuclear state. by the way, none of these goals are likely to achieve. they re going to end up as a target for u.s. nuclear weapons. we re going to have to watch them. we re going to have to develop direct energy weapons to try to isolate their missile capability. but at the end of the day, we are going to have to consider first strike on north korea, if we see them on the verge of launching. this is becoming more unstable, more dangerous as the years go by. you are the second outside analyst i heard today talk about the idea of potentially some sort of first strike against north korea. that is highly significant. how realistic is it? how close could the white house be to that? you know, look, if they end up as they have with submarine launch blisting.
existential issue whether we like it or not and therefore they are much more involved in this situation than we are. okay. you know so much about the way that president vladimir putin operates. paint a picture for us. how does this look if the president continues a policy that he is clearly determined to, that is what we ve seen here, paint a picture for us, where do we end up as the years go by? well president putin has been in power for 18 years and this is his fourth u.s. president so he s had a lot of experience with doing it. now what he would like to see happen is that the sanctions be lifted. the financial sanctions particularly imposed on russia after particularly the outbreak of the war in southern ukraine. i don t think he will get that very soon. but i think where it leads us is that you will now have different working groups, you ll have an attempt by the u.s. and russia to come to agreements on syria, on ukraine, they may or may not
post that republicans are going to be beaten on the head with this report like a club. are there any amendments that could salvage this thing? i don t think that s the right way to look at it. certainly democrats will jump on it and we ve seen that happen. the real issue for republicans is to recognize this is one part health care reform but also better economic policy, the aca enacted taxes and regulations out of the great recession that weren t helpful. budget policy, because we ve had some entitlement reforms that will be absolutely necessary as the years go by. and it s a test of their ability to govern and deliver on a political promise and the president s legislative agenda. so it s not really is this a tweak or that a tweak and can we do some sort of transaction and get it done, it s about a broader set of issues for the republican caucus. anton, this is a bill that seems to be dead at every step along the way. that was the case in the house. they managed to pull it through
