president biden is taking the fight to desantis s turf. we have kneel decrass tyson joining me for some wild tech breakthroughs. i m excited to see what he s going to explain about them. our top story right now is president biden s victory lap. joe biden finding his message from the state of the union is landing and he s turning the tables on that safety net fight. basically going to the trump/desantis home turf of florida to double down. now we all know taylor swift ironically suggested once she was a nightmare dressed like a day dream. well, today biden told republicans why he s going to be their nightmare, period. i know that a lot of republicans, your dream is to cut social security/medicare. let me say this, if that s your dream, i m your nightmare because there it is. call it some bad blood between the parties there. biden drawing a little bit of applause and some laughter for what has become, if you re monitoring this,s almost a celebratory mood among some demo
while he s claiming all sorts of things to spur up the crowd, the like, ordering the removing of metal detectors and things like that. you know, we all need to get to the bottom of what exactly happened. it s hugely significant. you and i have had conversations before and done our own legal analysis and real time reporting as this has evolved from the january 6th committee, from what we ve learned. i think it s very fair to say what was initially widely viewed as this shorter span of an event, which is why trump was impeached largely over the, quote, incitement speech that day has expanded as more evidence has become available of this multi-month plot. as you re reminding viewers, mike pence who has to tell someone something might blow it open. if you remember what you thought on january 7th, 2021, and what it looked like a year later, that s because of what people
january 6th panel, that it would establish what he called, quote, a terrible precedent for congress to summon a vice president to speak about deliberations that took place at the white house. the key word there from a legal perspective, the word deliberations. the idea he is capturing and referring to everything under investigation as somehow lawful and just a matter of discussion. we know the january 6th committee investigators did not look at it that way. they would say they wanted to interview him about attempted coups and crimes. we don t know what mike pence will ultimately do with this new request. he does have a legal obligation to testify. that s something that everyone would have although there are ways he could try to challenge it, delay it in court. i want to bring back in former federal prosecutor rinato and joan walsh. you were with us when this broke.
renato with the wire quote. if you shoot at the king, you best not miss. i think that you re remiding folks that some of what we learned did come from pence s closest aides, his counsel. that goes to something i alluded to earlier. some of those were probably unlawful orders rather than crimes. trump was doing mixing and matching. there were clearly attempted crimes like voter fraud in georgia, and then unlawful orders which in our system of government don t always lead to imprisonment. you had pence s lawyers talking about that and it may be the committee didn t ultimately want to pick a big fight with pence and make him out to be the worse enemy when they were focused on bigger problems. to bring joan into this, let s remind folks we have the december 21st meeting, one of several really horrific, terrible, undemocratic measures that were taken.
