access of the abortion pill. and i think it s important for us to note here that the abortion pill, especially in states like idaho and other rural states that already lacked access to care and had distance and travel as a barrier, especially during the pandemic, we watched the fda make it easier for people to access this kind of abortion care through telehealth and through other mechanisms, even being able to receive the abortion pill in the mail certainly now in idaho that would be near impossible within 30 days because that s about how long it will take for this law to go into effect, and i think it s also important to note that they re not just putting this in place for any regular person who might help a minor access care, they re also saying this would apply to medical providers who might refer clients out of state for abortion care or even to be able to pick up the abortion pill over state lines. the other thing i would point out here, lindsey, that s important, is if local pros
they re going to do everything they can to get through the next two years. that was former democratic congressman steve israel. he once held the seat to which george santos was elected in november, explaining why the house gop seems willing to tolerate what has become an endless stream of embarrassing lies and complete fabrications by republican congressman-elect george santos. but even if house gop leader, kevin mccarthy is willing to give him a pass for the sake of getting his vote of being elected speaker. back home in new york, santos is under intense scrutiny from the state ag, from a republican da on long island and now from federal prosecutors interested in the money trail. the u.s. attorney s office in brooklyn is investigating his financial disclosures with many questions and few answers from santos about loans he made to his own campaign. nbc news reached out to the house gop leadership but has yet to receive a response.
yeah, it certainly could have prevented the shooter from owning guns at least temporarily. obviously there s controversy politically over those laws as including in colorado in the county where this happened. so that complicates things to some degree over due process protection concerns, but they have issued red flag orders in that county in the past. it s unclear why they didn t pursue one in this case. how do you think that complicates things? the state ag told cnn they re working hard to bring awareness among individuals in law enforcement. would you expectation be that law enforcement, they do know about this red flag law or do you think maybe they don t know or is it that they re not enforcing this uniformly? i think it s hard to imagine they don t know. this has been a tough political issue in colorado and throughout the country over the last several years. there was a lot of opposition to
want the state ag to take over. we do review a lot of these cases. have not yet talked to the prosecuting attorney for kent county, and at this point, i ve not heard that he s asked us to take over this case. but of course we ll be prepared to do that if and when that request comes. let s switch gears. we re going to talk about reproductive rights, dividing the state of michigan. there s a law currently on the books from 1931. it bans most abortions in the state. that law, though, became unenforceable in 1973 because of the court s roe v. wade ruling. governor whitmer filed lawsuits to block in 1930s law if the supreme court weakens or overturns roe v. wade. your office is not going to defend michigan in this case because of your own personal experience and you have been open about it. i will say, you were pregnant with triplets at the time.
