14 must-see shows at Contact Photography Festival 2021

Contact Photography Festival is celebrating 25 years of taking over Toronto billboards, building facades and galleries with photo- and image-based art. Since galleries remain closed due to pandemic restrictions, this year the festival is switching things up.
With more time to prepare than the 2020 edition, there was a concerted effort to bolster virtual exhibitions and outdoor programming. No longer working in the confines of the month of May, Contact will roll out shows into the fall to overlap with the city’s Year of Public Art initiative in September.

Del Mar
The San Diego County Fair is looking for performers to compete in a variety of contests, including its new San Diego’s Got Talent contest. The theme of this year’s fair is “Oz-some,” based on “The Wizard of Oz.” The fair is slated to run May 31 to July 4 at the Del Mar Fairgrounds and is presented by Albertsons/Vons.
Here’s a rundown of some of the contests.
San Diego’s Got Talent contest
The contest is open to youths ages 8 to 17 and is set up like the national TV show. The competition includes two divisions, one for ages 8 to 12 and the other for teens ages 13 to 17. The first place prize is $1,000. This new competition, which showcases all kinds of performing talent, replaces the In The Spotlight contest, which was for singers only.
