In the spirit of giving and community support, The Salvation Army is partnering with Walmart on Maui for the upcoming “Maui County’s AngelTree Distribution” event, set to take place at the store’s special Winter Wonderland scene on Nov. 18 and 19, 2023.
As the holiday season approaches, The Salvation Army Hawaiian & Pacific Islands is gearing up to address the growing needs of our communities, exacerbated by the aftermath of the devastating Maui wildfires. The organization is now calling upon compassionate individuals to join its cause as volunteer bell ringers for the upcoming 2023 Statewide Red Kettle Campaign.
The Salvation Army has created three job positions aimed at assisting Maui residents in recovery and revitalization efforts following the August 2023 wildfires.
As of today, $83.78 million in federal assistance has been approved for more than 5,090 households. This includes housing and other needs assistance and Small Business Association disaster loans. There were 7,282 people housed at 32 locations around Maui, in coordination with the American Red Cross. The EPA has completed removal of hazardous material at 433 properties in total.
