The Green Bay Packers placed tight end Luke Musgrave on injured reserve and signed running back James Robinson to their active roster among a series of moves Wednesday in advance of their Thanksgiving Day game at Detroit. Musgrave went on injured reserve along with running back Emanuel Wilson, meaning both players must miss at least four games.
The Detroit Lions for many years were a team people had to watch on Thanksgiving. Detroit was so bad for so long that some started clamoring for the franchise to lose its traditional place on the holiday. Suddenly, the Lions are a team NFL fans outside the Motor City want to see.
This season of transition for Green Bay’s offense gives the Packers plenty of opportunities to figure out which of their young players could emerge as long-term key performers. It appears they’ve found a couple of keepers in rookie wide receivers Jayden Reed and Dontayvion Wicks. Reed scored on a 32-yard end-around and Wicks had three catches for a career-high 91 yards Sunday in a 23-20 victory over the Los Angeles Chargers.
With Green Bay down to one healthy running back, Jordan Love realized the Packers' hopes likely rested on his right arm. Love threw for 322 yards and found Romeo Doubs for a 24-yard touchdown with 2:33 left to give Green Bay a 23-20 victory over the Los Angeles Chargers on Sunday. It was a milestone rally for a young Packers team that continually had come up just short late in games this season.
Reed caught five passes for 84 yards and a touchdown against the Steelers, the second time in three games he has had at least 83 yards receiving. Reed has seven receptions of at least 30 yards this season. Only Miami's Tyreek Hill has more.
