(Lori Van Buren/Times Union)Lori Van Buren/Albany Times Union ALBANY The city’s long anticipated bike and pedestrian plan was unveiled by Mayor Kathy Sheehan, local officials, and alternative transportation advocates on Friday, which is Bike to Work Day. The master plan recommends over 40 miles of bicycle boulevards, 30 miles of protected bike lanes, and approximately 20 miles of multi-use paths in the city with a focus on how safe walking and cycling promotes equity. Residents who do not have access to a car or cannot drive rely on walking or biking to where they live, work, and play.
