In the summer of 2013, Rep. Jesse Jackson Jr., scion of the civil rights leader, was sentenced to 30 months in federal prison after pleading guilty to wire and mail fraud in connection with his misuse of $750,000 of campaign funds. Simultaneously, his wife, Sandi, was sentenced to 12 months for signing her name on false tax returns concealing said crimes. The Jacksons did not serve their time .
