novak djokovic s actions from the time he was ignoring protocols in the first months of covid, alex, it finally caught up with him. okay. let me quickly ask you about that book, speaking of books. talk about this, i m reliably told, mike, this book is selling like crazy. it s out this week, called the horsewoman. you wrote it with renowned author james patterson. tell me what the book was about and what it was like working with james patterson. if you re going to work with somebody, alex, work with the guy who has sold more books than anyone on the planet. two champion riders, mother and daughter, who have always said they wouldn t compete against each other. but through circumstances and injury, they end up competing against each other to go to the paris olympics. it s a great look at the world of show jumping. i ve got a daughter who has been doing this since she was 10 years old.
djokovic is going to try to play tennis at other tournaments in other countries. so we ll be watching this closely. we sure will. thank you so much for that report, molly. joining me is mike lupica, long time sports writer and analyst and co-author with james patterson of the horsewoman just out this week, congrats on that, mike. first, assess the final outcome for novak. what s your take for how this all unfolded? alex, first of all, he has done damage to his legacy, to his brand, to his place in the history of the sport. he s tied right now with nadal and federer at 20 majors. he wanted to break the record at australian open and get to 21. but before he ever got near the court, alex, he already broke a record by getting his visa revoked twice before the tournament even started. and he brought this on himself.
