Emirates SkyCargo and DCAA sign MOU Emirates SkyCargo and the Dubai Civil Aviation Authority have signed an MoU to streamline processes for the transportation of Dangerous Goods (DGs). The MoU was signed by Mohammed Abdulla Lengawi, Executive Director, Aviation Security and Accidents Investigation Sector, Dubai Civil Aviation Authority and Budoor Al Maazmi, Emirates Cargo Government Business Development Manager in the presence of Nabil Sultan, Emirates Divisional Senior Vice President, Cargo. Under the terms of the agreement, the two entities will work together to strengthen mechanisms to proactively share information on certain classes of DG booked for transport on Emirates SkyCargo through Dubai. This will complement the information that is already provided as part of the Dangerous Goods Declaration submitted to the DCAA as part of the approvals process for the transportation of goods classified as DG in accordance with IATA Dangerous Goods Regulations.

HOPE announces summit to combat pandemic Abu Dhabi’s HOPE Consortium today announces the inaugural World Immunisation & Logistics Summit, a major international gathering of front runners and senior decision-makers leading the charge in the collective human effort against the COVID-19 pandemic. Among the international speakers will be Dr.Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, Director-General, WHO, Mark Suzman, CEO, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, and Stanley C. Erck, President and CEO, Novavax. The summit is organised by the HOPE Consortium, an Abu Dhabi led public-private partnership responsible for the mass distribution of COVID-19 vaccines to the global population. It will take place virtually on March 29 and 30, and will further cement Abu Dhabi’s pioneering role in the fight against COVID-19.

Port of Felixstowe announces new service A new daily rail service has been introduced at Hutchison Ports Port of Felixstowe. The new service is operated by GB Railfreight and connects the UK s largest container port with Wakefield in Yorkshire. The new service is the 13th operated by GB Railfreight and the 12th daily rail connection to destinations in Yorkshire. Commenting on the latest addition to the port s roster of rail services, Chris Lewis, Chief Executive Officer at the Port of Felixstowe, said:  Expanding the number of rail services available to importers and exporters from the port is one of our key objectives. The Port of Felixstowe is the Northern Powerhouse s major container gateway and approximately 50% of traffic between Felixstowe and the North moves by rail. Increasing the number of services is good for the port, good for our customers and good for the environment.

Etihad carries vaccine consignment to Egypt

Etihad carries vaccine consignment to Egypt Etihad Cargo, the cargo and logistics arm of Etihad Aviation Group, and EFL (Expolanka Freight), the global supply chain company, have carried a vital consignment of vaccines from India to Egypt. Leveraging Etihad Cargo’s IATA CEIV certification for pharmaceutical logistics and capability to facilitate temperature-sensitive cargo shipments between +25⁰C and -80⁰C, and EFL’s CEIV and GDP compliance, the two entities collaborated to carry a consignment of 12,475,000 Tetanus and Diphtheria vaccine doses produced in India, the largest vaccine manufacturing origin according to WHO.  Maintaining the shipment integrity, EFL handed over the shipment to Etihad Cargo’s care in Mumbai, with the UAE’s national carrier transiting the consignment through its hub at Abu Dhabi International Airport en route to Cairo, maintaining the required +2⁰C to +8⁰C temperature ranges.
