and related to the national defense, and if it s top secret sci information, well, that fits the bill. if it s about nuclear weapons like the washington post reported, that fits the bill, and i don t know what the defense is. that s why we re hearing all of this stuff, to use bannon s favorite phrase, they re flooding the zone with exkrement because they re throwing everything out because they ve got nothing else. he turned the documents over. he would have turned the documents over if they had asked. they did ask, well, he turned them over. well, he declassified them by holding them to his head with brain waves. it just doesn t stop. the craziness of some of the assertions that they made, and so i just think i just think that this is rerhe realizes jeopardy he s in. we don t know whether the documents pertain to nuclear
the democrats landmark health care and climate bill is now headed to president biden s desk for signature. congress passed the $750 billion bill along party lines on friday. the legislation targets the climate crisis, health care, and spending. cnn s jessica dean joining us with more details on this. reporter: democrats and president biden scoring a big win as we saw their massive package focused on climate, taxes, and health care passing out of the house. it s now headed to president biden s desk for his signature. we spent the day hearing debate from both sides but it was very clear from the beginning that this had full democratic support in the house. this is something that passed along party lines as it did in the senate. the reason behind that, they re using a budget process that requires them only to have democratic support so they can
declassified. they come out fairly routinely. the classification is crossed out, there s usually a date stamped on it for when it was declassified and under whose authority. as far as we understand, none of that exists on these documents. the second question is what is the content of the documents. and we don t know yet. if it is top secret/sensitive compartmented information, it could involve nuclear information and so forth. it doesn t necessarily mean it s nuclear weapons related but it could be related to a country that s trying to obtain nuclear capability, it could be about secret operations the u.s. had. and as you heard from michael, even if they were declassified by the president, it wouldn t necessarily help him under the three statutes that they ve been looking at, including the espionage act. we worry about the espionage act
put things in those boxes to entrap him. how do we know they re going to be honest about what s in the boxes. how do we know that was in the box before it left the residence if the lawyers weren t allowed to see everything. some were saying in trump world, you know, the documents were declassified, you know, there s no problem, they re declassified. and you have others saying they were planted. were they declassified before they were planted? it sound as though they have a strategy of just throwing the ketchup against the wall and see what sticks. that s what i wrote in my piece for cnn, they re throwing everything against the wall. some group of americans might believe one defense and another a totally contradictory defense. there s no basis for any of this, this idea of planted evidence has been conjured out of thin area. it seems like one of the five or six or seven or eight things they re going with right now! there s also a lot of what
2024, really has to rise to a level. this is serious, very serious, if in fact the top level of documents that was not declassified and in possession, but questions here, why did it take so long, if they knew, why didn t they move on it quickly, why didn t they negotiate and say to the trump people this is what we really need because you have this. there s just it opens up a lot more questions, i think. mike: the former president himself responding on his truth social, social media platform saying number one, it was all declassified, number two, they didn t need to seize anything, they could have had it any time they wanted without playing politics and breaking into mar-a-lago. it was in secured storage with additional lock put on as per their request and so that s surprising that s his response that it was declassified, right.
