amazing. god bless the family tonight. thank you for saying those words, sean and i will take over where you left off. i am laura ingraham of this is the ingraham angle. a busy washington tonight. we ll start with this. the focus of tonight angle. here is my message. if you read one article this week about our political parties, it should be this piece just published by axios titled the great realignment. the gist is that republicans are becoming more populist while democrats are becoming more elitist. if these trends continue, the party of biden and pelosi is destined for historical losses in the next election cycle. not just in traditionally red states, by the way. shifts in the demographics of the two party supporters are arguably the biggest political story of our time. the big picture, republicans are becoming more working-class and a little more multiracial. democrats are becoming more elite and a little more white. huh. this movement of minorities toward the g.o.p.
democratic incumbent mark kelly leading by five points. he won heavily in early voting but masters is closing it as day of voting day trickles in. the spread. kelly started 18 points ahead. masters has already made up 13% overnight and we re seeing new patches skew heavily for the gop. 90,000 votes separating the two. on the governors side a lot tighter. kari lake just 12,000 votes separate the two. hobbs start evidence the night 14% higher and narrowed to under a point overnight. the big reason is lake has been winning a lot of batches by 70 to 80%. one of the big story lines is voting issues. 27% of county machines were down for a period yesterday. election officials tell us the snafu was with the printer. it was fixed by 1:00 p.m.enter rnc loss a last-minute suit to keep the polls open three more hours.
they are not pursuing populist issues. they just want to put on the populist garb, raise the money and hopefully get power so they can continue to serve the american oligarchy instead of the american people. laura: a vote for tim ryan is a vote to keep nancy pelosi a speaker and chuck schumer a senate majority leader. the whole gang will be back in time. nowhere has this political shift been more telling that along the texas border. following the 2020 election one of the big story lines was democrats support cratering in three majority hispanic and deeply districts along the rio grande valley. they weren t alone. this dramatic shift also happened in maverick county texas. there was a 40 for 7% shift in votes towards trump between 2016 and 2020. maverick county is where we find savanah hernandez who joins us tonight from eagle pass. savannah, that s with his huge mass of humanity is crossing the
time in a span of five months. this is a white house that knows this is an important state. and one of the big story lines is will the candidates show up when the president does? that s what we re seeing today. now it s an official event, not politics. we ll see politics as he travels west. he s going to talk about the earth day when he heads to portland and seattle washington. money a big part of the equation as a well. and this emphasizing the environment when he s opening up federal lands for oil and gas drilling. doing things that environmentalists, especially young activists, are angry about because he s trying to fight inflation, as well as sanctions on russia pushing fuel prices up. going against some of his own environmental promises. the white house is walking a fine line.
of the 70 plus town halls that are scheduled over this recess, only nine are republicans and only one is a republican senator. and more broadly house democrats have really embraced the town hall format which have kind of gone by the wayside since the tea party days. 98% have had town halls since they were elected and 51% of republicans. we ll see if this hold as 2020 continues, but now it seems to hold. what happened last week, the u.n. general assembly, in case you ve forgotten. and one of the big story lines going on there before all the impeachment lines came out is whether or not president trump would meet with president rouhani. he was proposing all kinds of options including having trump approve a european credit line
