Were on the west coast but the effects of Hurricane Irma are being felt all over this state still. Theres a lot to report over the next two hours. Were going to be focusing on what happened in the caribbean where the storm has passed by the misery is remaining. There are now 16 deaths in the United States contributed to the storm. Twelve of them here in the states and at least others in the caribbean. Fema estimates 19 homes were damaged or completely destroyed. Over the next two hours well hear from survivors who rode out the storm and people who coming home to see whats left behind or not left. Virgin islands, the people there have told us theyre feeling neglected. The three largest islands in the virgin islands, st. Kroiks, st. Thomas. cuts all along, so how is this unfolding? reporter: it s very p interesting. you remember it was the dead of night, actually 5:00 in the morning, this time last week when republicans palgsed $61 billion of cuts from the budget this year that was supposed to last until october 1st, the end of this fiscal year. democrats in the senate said no way, we re not passing that. then promptly left town for a week s break. over the course of that week there s been a lot of negotiations because in the short term, as everybody knows by now, the government is set to run out of money march 4th, that s next friday, but appears now there is a breakthrough. the white house has been involved on the privilege perip these talks and they do not want the government to shut down. too many political variables, too much at stake with the economy. so the good news is the government is going to keep operating. the bad news is we could be facing this same dilemma in two weeks, because they re unable, all the oth
