Outgoing President Halimah Yacob of Singapore has extended her best wishes to President-elect Tharman Shanmugaratnam, who will be sworn in as the country s ninth president. Shanmugaratnam, an economist, won 70.4% of the votes in the recent election. Halimah, Singapore s first female president, expressed gratitude for the trust and support she received during her term.
