Enterprize Energy has started initial marine surveys off the coast of Binh Thuan province for its Thang Long Offshore Wind project.
At 3.4GW, it is the largest offshore wind farm to be granted a survey licence by the Vietnamese government.
The first 600MW phase of the project is due to come online by the end of 2025, with further phases developed on a rolling basis, subject to grid availability.
Vietnam is set to become a clean energy leader in the APAC region, targeting 21% installed renewable energy capacity by 2030.
With an estimated 160GW of wind energy potential in the region’s waters, the roll out of significant offshore wind projects will be key to meeting this target.
