Fayetteville, Hope Mills, Spring Lake and other areas will hold events to honor those who died in service to the country.
There are a number of events scheduled over the next few days, some of which will honor fallen service members while others are military-connected.
Here are some of them:
Wednesday:
•The Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6018 will hold an observance at 6 p.m. at the post, 116 Chance St., in Fayetteville, said Post Commander Edward Beard.
Thursday:
• The U.S. Army Special Operations Command will honor soldiers killed while supporting combat operations during 2018, 2019 and 2020 in a ceremony that will be streamed on the command s Facebook page at 10 a.m., according to a news advisory.

LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) - Thai Pepper in Lubbock is expected to reopen Monday, May 10, after it closed following the death of owner Trakool ‘Kool’ Srivarodom.
The restaurant will offer dine-in, but will only operate at 50 to 60% capacity. Eight to nine tables will be available for open seating. However, dine-in customers must pay and order before being seated, with servers delivering food and drinks once its ready.
On Thursday, January 28th, Thai Pepper Restaurant will be open for a special celebration to honor the life of the late owner, Trakool, who died this year from complications with COVID-19.
The restaurant is inviting all of its long-time patrons to come and enjoy a free meal and simply asking for a donation in return that will go to Lubbock Impact, a local organization that helps the poor and poverty-stricken residents get back on their feet with food, clothing, healthcare, and all things in between.
Thai Pepper will only be open between 11:30 a.m. and 2 p.m., and Trakool s wife and co-owner for Thai Pepper will be preparing meals until they run out of ingredients.
