For 13 years, I wrote a restaurant review series, which meant that we ate dinner in a different restaurant three to four weeks every month. Some weeks, the Kitchen Genius simply did not want to go out. I would gently tease him that most people would love to be in his shoes.
But the truth is that he loves to cook – and he’s very good at it both personally and professionally.
We were both a little relieved when I stopped writing reviews. We settled into a more manageable schedule of dining out once every month or two, usually with friends. I miss those pre-pandemic days, but I also love what took its place in the past year. Absent the opportunity to dine out, we’ve ramped up what it means to dine in.
