Joint effort to lift TIP ranking

Business associations are cooperating with the Labour Ministry to eliminate human trafficking and improve the kingdom s standing in the US State Department s annual Trafficking in Persons Report (TIP).
Thailand was ranked at Tier 2 in the 2020 TIP, meaning the kingdom did not fully meet the minimum standards for the elimination of human trafficking despite making significant efforts to do so.
Labour Minister Suchart Chomklin said the government aims to eliminate the practice of using child and forced labour in the fishery, agriculture and textile industries so it encouraged business operators to sign a memorandum of understanding that promotes the quality of life of workers and ensures the implementation of good labour practices and inspections.
