Pietermaritzburg High Court Judge Piet Koen will on Tuesday rule on Jacob Zuma's application for a so-called "special plea". Zuma is arguing that the entire NPA has lost the "title" to try him for corruption and that he has suffered at the hands of his prosecutors.
Judge Piet Koen set 11 April 2022 as the date for the arms deal trial to commence and if Zuma’s counsel signalled that they may seek leave to appeal, this is highly unlikely to force an umpteenth delay
The judge denied Zuma’s bid to have the senior prosecutor removed from trying the case, and Zuma’s legal team hinted it would apply for leave to appeal.
