strong wind. but flooding. in some cases over 6 inches of rain in some of the some areas you are seeing on the radar. across dallas up to oklahoma city. you can see the showers just kind of training over the same areas. so you see one line of thunderstorms move through and yet another sets up and another and another. so that s the case. we ll see flash floods potential threat the next couple days. the severe threat extends from the canadian bored all the way to the mexican border. large hail, damaging winds and tornadoes. the area that we are most concerned with is across central texas up toward home where we think all of those ingredients will combine and make for a volatile afternoon and even into the overnight hours which of course is the deadliest time you can have tornado. a lot of people are asleep. so make sure you have your noaa weather radios on and you listen to your local forecasters.
we re going to see showers and storms. even at this hour, temperatures are very warm. we re 78 to start your morning at minneapolis and d.c. when you start without the sunshine, you re going to get up to 80s, 90s. it s typical summer weather. it s not going to be too dramatic or too washed out. the best chance, northern iowa, nebraska, that s where our cold front is going to spark showers and storms all day today and continue tonight. as far as the hot weather goes that continues in texas up to oklahoma. high pressure along the gulf is going to continue to keep you dry and also on the steamy side. as far as the wet weather, we re seeing the worst of it from watertown and brookings. here in minneapolis it s dying auchlt i would take an umbrella, though, if you re leaving the door. as far as the forecast for
chad, that leads us into the question that i had. which is, how did the storm form and what was it about this storm, they were calling it rain wrapped that hit it from sirens, et cetera. when you re in the western part of oklahoma, west i-35, from texas up to nebraska, if you re on the west side of that, most of your tornadoes are lp, low precipitation tornadoes, which means they are out there, you can see them, it s raining over here a little bit but there s not a lot of hail or rain and there s the tornado. when you get east of there, there is more humidity there. the dewpoints are high and thick, all the way up to the thousands of feet thick and it rains more and it comes around the backside of the tornado, southwest side into what is called the mesocyclone. so it looks like it s just raining over there. inside that rain, there is a
