we are hearing reports of people who chose to ride out the storm being trapped in having get rescued. the understanding needs to be, some of these people didn t have a choice. they couldn t leave. this storm form so quickly and got so strong so fast. some people just didn t have the capacity to leave. or maybe they had a medical attention they needed to stick around. that s something that s happening right now, rescues throughout the state. one man was killed in baton rouge jets just outside baton rouge after a tree fell on his house. that is something authorities are warning today, more trees could fall. somewhere like new orleans got anywhere from six to 12 inches of rain. that s a lot of rain for an area that s already nearly at sea level. can t handle too much rain. but on the other side of it, the other devastating storms like hurricane katrina, the levees
of the storm is the outro is not really working well for a storm that would prefer to develop so that s good news but we re that, we re finding, is working against the idea of the storm, at least in this moment, getting stronger so anything we can do or find to maybe lean in that direction, we re happy to find that information. now, the storm still has the ability to strengthen over the next 24 hours. it s going to go over some warmer water and potentially less sheer so we ve got to keep our fingers crossed that we ll continue to find a little bit of good news as we keep these flights going. so, paul, this is your fourth flight over florence. you said on monday that you had a sick feeling in your gut watching this storm form. do you still have that feeling right now? yes, you know, just a little numb after a few days. i ve been doing this for 15, 16 years, so we ve been through this lots of times, but it never seems different when it s happening because you know so

with some squally type weather. this happens now and then. not all that often. the last time was in 1978, we had a storm form in january. about one every ten years. we get a storm that forms outside of the hurricane season. so, as we were mentioning, starting to get a little warm. remember yesterday was negative 20 in green bay. windchill was 14. that s a big improvement. still cold in northern new england. the warmer areas will move in during the day today. the winds won t be much of a problem either. the only storm we re going to watch in the eastern half of the country is going to come out of the gulf of mexico. typically these are the ones you worry about. they come up the coast, can be a big nor easter. this is going to head off the coast in a couple days ahead. late today some rain. new orleans rainy friday and much of florida flout the southeast, including south and north carolina then it just brushes new england on saturday. we re looking athe a very rainy saturday in the mid-a
