Hundreds attended the first weekend of the 56th annual parade of homes featuring eight residential properties from Belton, Killeen, Nolanville and Copperas Cove.
âThe Parade of Homes is to showcase the builders homes,â Teri Stermer, executive officer of the Central Texas Home Builders Association, said Sunday. âA lot of people donât have the opportunity to see custom homes in person, so this lets them know what the builders are building.â
The open houses took place between noon to 6 p.m. Saturday and Sunday with another chance to see the houses again this coming weekend.
âParade of Homes is to showcase the builders, and different homes, and what they have to offer,â Stermer said Sunday.
The 56th annual Parade of Homes will feature eight residential properties ranging from Belton to Copperas Cove. The open houses are scheduled from noon to 6 p.m. on April 24-25 and May 1-2.
âThis year, we have had a hard time keeping homes because theyâve been selling so fast in our area,â according to Teri Stermer, executive officer of the Central Texas Home Builders Association. âItâs a good chance for people to see the homes our builders have been building.â
In addition to the open houses for potential buyers, the builders will be competing against one another for the best kitchen, bathroom, curb appeal, craftsmanship and overall appeal of each home. Judges will come in from out of town for most of the categories, but 30 local realtors have signed up to judge the curb appeal.
