A refrigerated mobile morgue was deployed to Texas Health Harris Methodist in Fort Worth on Tuesday, hospital officials say, as Tarrant County averages just under 15 COVID-19-related deaths per day.
Tarrant County Public Health reported eight COVID-19 deaths Tuesday, after tallying at 13 each day since Dec. 27 with the exception of New Year s Day, when new coronavirus data was not reported. This shows how serious the situation is and how important it is for everyone in the community to do their part to slow the transmission of the virus by wearing masks, washing their hands, socially distancing and avoiding large crowds, Texas Health Resources said in a statement.
Former co-worker Elizabeth Thompson called her Mother Teresa. She would be there for four hours on her own time to make sure when that passenger got to where he was going, everything was smooth sailing for them,” Thompson said.
When Thompson s mother became ill, Munoz volunteered to work her shifts for three months, Thompson said.
Munoz moved here with her family from Mexico City looking for a better life, and found it in Fort Worth, where she worked at American for 25 years. I remember mom meeting passengers on the phone who were stranded or who were traveling to a funeral, especially a lot of immigrant families, and she would bring them to stay at our house,” her daughter Dee Lara said.
Inspired by how easily her daughter navigated the classes, Jessica followed the next semester. I d already been thinking about doing nursing for a while, but I had a 2-year-old. So I had to get her old enough,” Jessica Long said.
Like others have done, Jessica had put her own aspirations on hold to raise eight children.
Throughout those years, she’d done part-time work like delivering newspapers or driving for Uber and Lyft.
After her husband lost his job, she knew she would be the one who’d need a career that could provide better benefits and pay to take care of her family.

A Fort Worth fire captain and 39-year veteran became the first member of the department to die from COVID-19.
FORT WORTH, Texas - A Fort Worth fire captain and 39-year veteran became the first member of the department to die from COVID-19.
He contracted the virus a month ago and died at a hospital after a battle in the ICU.
Captain Randy Robinson died on Thursday after a month-long fight with COVID-19. He spent 39 years with the Fort Worth Fire Department and spent 20 of them at Station 35 as the air crash captain.
