Just over a decade ago, the craft spirit movement in Texas began with Garrison Brothers and Balcones. Now there are as many distilleries in Texas as there were in the country when the American craft whiskey scene started gaining traction after the Great Recession of 2008.

A Texas distillery is building a massive Alamo on steroids to house its new whiskey operation.
Whiskey Hollow Distillery, a family-run distillery north of Dallas, broke ground on the 54,000 square-foot structure in 2018. The owner gave a reporter a simple set of directions to the new site. North side of road looks like the Alamo on steroids, Les Beasley told D Magazine. No signs out front just pull up to the front come on in.
The distillery s facade indeed bears a strong resemblance to the San Antonio landmark. That was no accident.
