Texas deploys emergency crews ahead of possible severe storms

AUSTIN, Texas (KLTV) - Gov. Abbott deployed state emergency resources ahead of severe storms, potential flash flooding, and extreme fire danger expected across the state Wednesday through the end of the week.
Severe storms with damaging winds, large hail, and potential flash flooding are forecasted throughout much of Texas. Extreme fire danger has also been forecasted across West/Southwest Texas and the Panhandle during the same time period.
“As severe weather is forecasted across the Lone Star State, I urge Texans to stay weather-aware and heed the guidance of local officials,” said Gov. Abbott. “In preparation for this severe weather, including the potential for flash flooding, the State of Texas has deployed Texas A&M Task Force One and Task Force Two search and rescue teams, and Texas Parks and
Abbott said extreme fire danger in West Texas has been forecast through the weekend. In preparation for this severe weather, the State of Texas has placed a variety of emergency resources on standby, and we will continue to monitor weather conditions as this storm system travels across our state, Abbott said in a statement Friday.
National Weather Service Meteorologist Aaron Treadway told the American-Statesman that the same storm system that produced rain, hail and heavy winds in North, East and Central Texas on Friday also will cause dry, windy conditions in West Texas in its wake, leading to the fire danger.

AUSTIN, Texas - Gov. Greg Abbott today placed numerous resources on standby ahead of severe storms and extreme fire danger that are expected across the state this afternoon through early Saturday morning.
Severe storms with heavy winds, large hail and potential flash flooding are likely throughout North, East and Central Texas beginning this afternoon through Saturday morning. Extreme fire danger has been forecast across west Texas throughout the weekend.
“As severe weather makes its way across the Lone Star State, I urge North, Central and East Texans to stay weather-aware and heed the guidance of local officials,” said Abbott. “In preparation for this severe weather, the State of Texas has placed a variety of emergency resources on standby, and we will continue to monitor weather conditions as this storm system travels across our state.�
